My influences.

Travelling

I feel that travelling inspires me more than anything. Recently I visited Vienna the city of art. On this trip, I visited so many magnificent places. One of the places that were most significant to me was the Albertina art gallery. The gallery had a variation of artwork; historical pieces by artists such a Picasso, Monet and Michail Larionow as well as contemporary artwork by; Lichtenstein and Gerhard Richter. As I walked through the gallery I was inspired to use contrasting shades and colours in my work and produce work that is visually exciting.

Vivienne Westwood

One of Britain's most highly acclaimed British fashion designers, her work and way of life inspires me greatly. Her designs of clothing are unlike anyone else and the way in which she promotes the work and activist view. She challenges/ inspires me to look differently at my work, using politics and different views to create the most developed pieces of work.

Blogs and magazines

In my spare time, I also like to read magazines and blog. I like to know the latest trends and fashion statements but also like to know what is going on in the world today in terms of politics.

At the moment I like to read blogs as they give me inspirations for my style and show me trends during each season.

Style Du Monde is run by photographer Acielle, she creates a collection of the best looks on the street during fashion weeks across the world.
Natasha Ndlovu is a model and blogger. She creates outfit ideas that a trendy and super-chic.

Illustrator- Jacqueline Bissett

Jacqueline Bissett is an artist who works in the fashion industry producing illustrations that are eye-catching. She uses a combination of flat colour and different line weights using brush strokes. Bissett’s work is not always precise but spontaneous which has enabled her work to be used by huge fashion brands, for example, Thomas Sabo. Bissett’s illustrations are traditional yet incorporate the glamourous current fashions.

The illustration was drawn by Jacqueline Bissett.

50 YEAR OLD SELF AND MARK MAKING

ABSTRACTS TRANSFORMED INTO FASHION

Previously to this I created four abstract paintings that were inspired from a trip with my Foundation group. I then found fashion editiorials within fashion magazines that matched the colours within my A2 abstract paintings.

BROWN PAPER DOLLS HOUSE

I was given the task of creating an object that I had seen on a trip with my foundation group to Calk Abbey. The object had to be made from brown paper and clear sellotape.

COMPOSITION

As a class, we had to create the alphabet and also the numbers 1-10. I was given the letter 'W',  for this bought watermelon which would symbolise the letter. I had to be cautious of the composition of the letter and the object. I made it look like the watermelon was falling from the letter, so that they connected.
